The Promoting and Development of Potentiality of Farming Households based on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy: A Case Study of Non Sa-nga Village, Nong Kung, Mueang Subdistrict, Kalasin Province

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate how to promote sustainable development of farming households based on sufficiency economy philosophy at Non Sa-nga village, Nog Kung, Mueang Subdistrict, Kalasin province. The study employed participatory action research to examine local context, potentials, problems and limitations, and people’s understanding of sufficiency economy. The results showed that the village’s geography is sandy loam plain. Most villagers are farmers with average educational level of primary school. They lived in a close-knit community. They had their own culture. The problems in community were lack of continuous promotion in occupational group, while the limitation of the people were lack  of area for setting up occupational group and lack of water for agriculture. The villagers thought sufficiency economy is necessary for living. They planned for daily expense, saving discipline, effective resource consumption, knowledge with moral, news update, learning by doing, and implementation of sufficiency economic in daily life. The results also suggested that there should be the promotion and development of organic fertilizer production, household vegetables growing, farming, local market for people in community to sell their products, and living through sufficiency economic which benefits both villagers and community.
