STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODEL OF FACTORS AFECTING JOB EFFECTIVENESS OF CATHOLIC VOLUNTEERS IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF BANGKOK
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: In today's rapidly changing society, developing job effectiveness among Catholic volunteers is crucial as volunteers serve as the primary mechanism for advancing the Church's mission. Objective: To 1) examine the levels of servant leadership, volunteer motivation, public-spirited behavior, and job effectiveness of Catholic volunteers, and 2) investigate the direct and indirect effects of factors on job effectiveness of Catholic volunteers in the Archdiocese of Bangkok. Methods: A mixed-methods research design was employed. Quantitative data were collected from 500 Catholic volunteers using questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive statistics and Structural Equation Modeling. Qualitative data involved in-depth interviews with 10 experienced volunteers, validated through triangulation. Results: All variables showed high mean scores (4.35-4.43). The model demonstrated good fit with empirical data (χ²/df = 2.01, RMSEA = 0.045, CFI = 0.954). Servant leadership had significant direct effects on volunteer motivation (β = 0.661), public-spirited behavior (β = 0.269), and job effectiveness (β = 0.090). Conclusion: Servant leadership affects job effectiveness both directly and indirectly through volunteer motivation and public-spirited behavior, providing valuable insights for enhancing Catholic volunteer management.
