บทคัดย่อ

The purpose of this research article was to present the analysis results of
conflict of “Mekkhala”, the main charater in the novel, “Mae Bia”. The analysis
was on conflict appearing in narratives and conversations between Mekkhala and
other characters, a cobra, and environmental society based on the concept of
creating conflict which is an element of fiction. The study results are presented in
percentages and explanations of examples. Four types of conflict were found:
Conflict within the mind of “Mekkhala” was most frequently found at 53 times or
47.75 percent; followed by conflict between “Mekkhala” and other characters was
found at 32 times or 28.83 percent; followed by conflict between “Mekkhala” and
the cobra was found at 15 times or 13.51 percent; and conflict between “Mekkhala”
and the environmental society was found the least frequency at 11 times or 9.91
percent. The results of the study reflect conflicts which were the plot that the author
aims to present important causes of the events, especially conflict in the mind of
the character, “Mekkhala” caused by lust. “Mekkhala” had sexual relationships
before marriage with Poj, and she also had sexual relationships with Chanachon,
a married man, even though she knew it was wrong. Ultimately, these resulted
in conflict with other characters, the cobra, and the environmental society
