Tourists’ Needs for the Management of a Living Museum in Phuket Old Town to Promote Sustainable Cultural Tourism

This research aims to study the needs of tourists regarding the management of a living museum in Phuket Old Town in order to promote sustainable cultural tourism. Data were collected from 400 Thai tourists using a questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings reveal that tourists placed high importance on living museum management that effectively conveys the local way of life, provides appropriate facilities, and ensures safety. The aspects rated as most important were the preservation of local dialects, traditional attire, and local customs. Tourists also showed interest in participating in activities that reflect community lifestyles and offer authentic cultural experiences. The results suggest that the management of living museums should comprehensively address tourists’ needs to enhance the quality and sustainability of cultural tourism in the future.
