THE STUDY OF THE PROBLEMS IN TEACHING PRACTICUM: A CASE STUDY OF CHINESE EDUCATION STUDENTS AT THE FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES, NAKHON PATHOM RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study the problems in teaching practicum of Chinese major students who studies in the first semester of the academic year 2023 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University. The research sample was 30 Chinese major students and 10 mentor teachers obtained by purposive sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire which was divided into three sessions: demographic data of the research sample, problem conditions related to field experience in the teaching practicum of Chinese major Students, and other opinions regarding field experience in the teaching practicum. The research finding showed that: 1) the students opined that the problems in teaching practicum was found at a high level, namely, textbooks, books, and teaching materials ( = 3.67), teaching aids (
= 3.70), and homework and assignment submission (
= 4.27). In addition, many educational institutions lack Chinese textbooks and budget to support Chinese language teaching and learning. 2) The mentor teachers reported that the problems of Chinese students in teaching practicum in the aspect of learning media/activities (
= 3.60) and learning management (
= 3.50) were at a high level. The students mainly used hand-out, textbooks, and Microsoft PowerPoint in teaching and learning, emphasize on lecture teaching method, and employed less interesting teaching media. There will also be pronunciation and grammatical errors. However, in terms of self-control, students were voluntary-mined and actively participated in school activities.
