FACTORS AFFECTING WORK-LIFE BALANCE OF OFFICE OF THE PERMANENT SECRETARY FOR INTERIOR’S STAFF

Abstract

          The purpose of this research were to study: 1) the work-life balance of the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior’s staff; 2) the level of factors affecting work-life balance of the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior’s staff; and 3) the factors affecting work-life balance of the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior staff. The sample consisted of 261 staffs of the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior derived by stratified random sampling. The research instruments for data collection were questionnaires. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis to predict factors affecting work-life balance.


          The Findings were as follows:


  1. Overall, the work-life balance of the staff was at a high level.

  2. Overall, the level of factors affecting work-life balance of was at a high level. When considering each aspect, the factors with a high level, in the descending order, were work environment, work security, balanced workload, and support from the organization. The aspect of growth and career progression was at an average level.

  3. The aspects of support from the organization (X6), work security (X7), balanced workload (X9), and position of director (X4) predicted the work-life balance at the percentage of 54.3 with correlation coefficient of .737. The prediction equation in raw score was:

Ŷ = 1.089 + .274(X7) + .224(X6) + .237(X9) + .402(X4).
