DEVELOPMENT OF GRADE 10 STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN CRITICAL READING OF ONLINE TEXT BY USING QUEST METHOD

Abstract

         The purposes of this research were to: 1) compare the students’ achievement in critical reading of online text after learning by QUEST method; and 2) to study the students’ satisfactions toward learning by QUEST method. The sample was 28 grade 10 students in the 2nd semester of academic year 2017 in Srinagarindra the Princess Mother School Kanchanaburi under Patronage of Princess Maha Chakri Sirinthorn, under the jurisdiction of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 8. The instruments included: 1) lesson plans on critical reading of online texts by using QUEST method, 2) an achievement test on critical reading of online texts, and 3) a students’ satisfaction questionnaire toward learning by QUEST method. The data were analyzed with mean, standard deviation and dependent t-test.


         The findings revealed that:


  1. The students’ achievement in critical reading of online texts after using QUEST method was higher than that of before with the .05 level of significance.

  2. Overall, the students were satisfied with learning critical reading by using QUEST method at the highest level.
