Abstract

The purposes of this research were to compare: 1) the grade 9 students’ analytical reading ability before and after learning by using supplementary reading booklet together with CCR model; 2) the grade 9 students’ analytical reading ability after learning by using supplementary reading booklet together with CCR model with the set criterion of 80%; and 3) the grade 9 students’ analytical reading ability between experimental group and control group. The sample of this research was 96 grade 9 students who studied at Ratanaratbumrung School, Ratchaburi Province. They were derived by cluster random sampling and divided into 48 students in experimental group and 48 students in control group. The research instruments were: 1) supplementary reading booklets, 2) lesson plans on analytical reading based on supplementary reading booklet together with CCR model, 3) traditional lesson plans on analytical reading, and 4) an analytical reading ability test constructed by researchers. Data were analyzed with mean, standard deviation and t-test.

The results found that:

  1. The analytical reading ability after using supplementary reading booklet together with CCR model was higher than that of before with statistically significance difference at .05 level.

  2. The analytical reading ability after using supplementary reading booklet together with CCR model was higher than the set criterion of 80 % with statistically significance difference at .05 level.

  3. The analytical reading ability of experimental group was higher than of the control group with statistically significant difference at .05 level.
