AN APPLICATION OF THE HIN JOK SARONG PATTERN, MAE CHAEM DISTRICT CHIANG MAI PROVINCE FOR CONTEMPORARY FASHION CREATION

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study and review the weaving culture and Teen Jok fabric patterns from Mea Chaem, Chiang Mai, 2) to design and create the contemporary fashion on Teen Jok fabric from Mea Chaem, Chiang Mai, 3) to evaluate the satisfaction of the model of creating the contemporary fashion design on Teen Jok fabric from Mae Chaem, Chiang Mai. The samples were 50 tourists and the locals in Mea Chaem District by collecting data from the weaving instruments and the design parts consisting of waist skirt fabric, head skirt fabric, body skirt fabric, foot skirt fabric. There are eleven original patterns and five new created patterns mixed from the main 11 patterns. There are, therefore, 16 patterns. The result found that pattern no.3 had the most appropriate (=4.51, SD=0.51). The satisfaction of the model of creating the contemporary on Teen Jok fabric from Mae Chaem, Chiang Mai showed the overall results at high (=4.47, SD=0.87). The evaluation of each aspect declared that the aspect of the contemporary fashion creation product model from Teen Jok (Product) was at high (=4.40, SD==0.77). The identity product was the highest (=4.33, SD=0.60), the price was at high (=4.21, SD=0.95), and the channel of distribution was at high (=4.29, SD=0.94)
