Initially, the Pee-Tai was not included; it was later added, consequently evolving the tune. This article aims to study the evolution of the Pee–Tai’s tune from the past to the present, showcasing six phases as described. (1) In the local folklore performance, the oboe can be easily crafted from natural materials and does not inherently produce a specific melody. (2) During the Imitation of the central region, the Pee–Tai craftsmen mimicked the oboes from the central region. Then the Pee–Tai players performed to the rhythm of Thab and Klong Tuk without a defined rhythm pattern. (3) Playing alongside the gamelan or Piphat songs, the performance is initiated by traditional Thai songs, influenced by the spread of central music culture in the southern region. (4) Performance of the traditional tune; however, the styles are not markedly different. (5) Categorization of the tune results from the fusion of central gamelan or Piphat with Songkhla style and the development of techniques in country music to perform in the Phatthalung style. (6) The mingling of Western musical instruments with the Pee–Tai exhibits interdependence. Nevertheless, the future of the Pee–Tai's may involve the development and alteration of its tune, showcasing a constant adaptation to the changing times.
Kraiwit Sukwin Copyright (c) 2024 RMUTK Journal of Liberal Arts https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/larts-journal/article/view/266248 Tue, 07 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Guidelines for the Development of Interpretation Signs for Tourists in A Natural History Museum, Pathum Thani Province https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/larts-journal/article/view/266301
The aim of this research was two-fold: 1) to examine tourists' perceptions of interpretive signage in the PTT Museum of Natural Science, Pathum Thani Province, and 2) to propose guidelines for improving interpretive signage in the same museum. A mixed methods research approach was employed, with a sample group comprising 400 Thai tourists who visited the museum, museum staff, and 5 experts in media design. Accidental sampling was used for tourists, while purposive sampling was employed for museum staff and experts. Data were collected using a questionnaire assessing the tourists' perceptions of interpretive signage, with a reliability coefficient of 0.90, and an interview form to gather insights on improving the signage. Quantitative data analysis included the percentage (%), mean (), and standard deviation (S.D.), while qualitative data were analyzed through informal content analysis of interview responses. The research findings concluded that 1) tourists' perceptions of interpretive signage in the museum ranged from moderate to high suitability, with font size and color clarity perceived most favorably, followed by signage boards and structures, and the use of high-quality, durable materials, and 2) guidelines for improving interpretive signage in the museum encompassed five key areas: 1) image size on signage, 2) signage placement, 3) quantity of text on signage, 4) font size on signage, and 5) signage maintenance.
Paphada Suebplai, Songkran Klomsook, Saowaluk Sudprasert, Sujin Sukapong Copyright (c) 2024 RMUTK Journal of Liberal Arts https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/larts-journal/article/view/266301 Tue, 07 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Attitudes of Adolescents in Chiang Rai Province towards Individuals with Gender Diversity https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/larts-journal/article/view/265617
The current situation reflects increased openness and acceptance of gender diversity, although it may not true acceptance. This has led to the discrimination and prejudice against people of gender diversity. The objectives of the study are; 1) to study the adolescents in Chiang Rai province towards individuals with gender diversity; 2) to compare the attitudes of adolescents in Chiang Rai province towards individuals with gender diversity, categorized by personal factors.; and 3) to compare the attitudes of adolescents in Chiang Rai province towards individuals with gender diversity, categorized by the level of self-identity acceptance. The research sample consists of adolescents aged 18 – 21 in the registration records of the Mueang district, Chiang Rai province, with a total of 400 individuals randomly selected using an accidental sampling method. Data were collected through online questionnaire with a reliability level of .841 to .924. The statistics for data analysis include frequency distribution, percentage (%), mean (), standard deviation (S.D.), t-test and one-way ANOVA. The findings indicate that; 1) Overall, adolescents in Chiang Rai province exhibit a significantly positive attitude towards individuals with gender diversity (mean = 2.54, S.D. = .9625); 2) Adolescents with personal factors such as gender, sexual identity, age, marital status, education level, and religion differ significantly in the attitudes towards individuals with gender diversity people with a statistical significance of .05; 3) Adolescents in Chiang Rai with different levels of self-identity acceptance also show statistically significant differences in their attitudes towards individuals with gender diversity people with a statistical significance of .05.
Netichat Karamontree, Sahaphap Kiratichon, Pakaporn Maturasawan, Nuttya Wiangkaew, Tanapat Janpipatpong, Tippawan Muangjai Copyright (c) 2024 RMUTK Journal of Liberal Arts https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/larts-journal/article/view/265617 Tue, 07 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 A Study and Analysis of Thai Students' Interest towards the Content of Chinese Cultural Books https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/larts-journal/article/view/266051
This research aimed to: 1) investigate the interests of students majoring in Chinese language teaching with intermediate Chinese language proficiency at a university in Thailand, regarding the content of Chinese cultural books. 2) propose guidelines for selecting Chinese cultural books that align with students' interests. The research adopted a mixed-methods approach, utilizing two research tools: 1) a questionnaire and 2) interviews. The target group consisted of 32 first to third-year Chinese language teaching students. The researchers analyzed two Chinese cultural books, namely "Chinese Culture《中国文化》" and "Contemporary Chinese Topics《当代中国话题》" and identified eight content categories: 1) Daily Life, 2) Leisure and Entertainment, 3) Gender and Emotions, 4) Travel and Tourism, 5) Social Relationships, 6) Education and Work, 7) Social Issues, and 8) Traditional Culture. The findings of the research were as follows: 1) Students were most interested in the category of Social Relationships, followed by Learning and Work, Social Issues, Travel and Tourism, Traditional Culture, Daily Life, and Relaxation and Entertainment, with the least interest in Gender and Emotions. 2) Based on students' interests in the content categories of Chinese cultural books, the researchers suggested the following guidelines for teachers in selecting teaching materials including: 1. Understanding the basic cultural knowledge and selecting teaching materials accordingly, 2. Promoting communication and using flipped classroom teaching methods, and 3. Enhancing social and cultural awareness.
Chandat Thianthong, Xiaolong Wei Copyright (c) 2024 RMUTK Journal of Liberal Arts https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/larts-journal/article/view/266051 Tue, 07 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Effect of Inquiry-Based Learning Management Method (7E) along with Wordwall Games for Health Education Subject, Focusing on Classifying the 5 Main Food Groups for Third-Grade Students with Intellectual Disabilities https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/larts-journal/article/view/266669
This research aimed to study the learning achievement of students who have undergone inquiry-based learning (7E) combined with Wordwall games.
