To energize the study and the development of art and its circle in Thailand, Silpa Bhirasri cooperated with many organizations in order to initiate the National Art Exhibition. The 1st National Exhibition took place in 1949. One of the persons who played a role in coordination submitted an artwork to participate in the show and was a committee was a Japanese artist Munetsugu Satomi. Satomi arrived in Thailand during World World II and stayed in Thailand after the war ended. The cooperation between Bhirasri and Satomi somehow reflected the moving dimension of contemporary art in Thailand.
