Prioritizing KPI Data Management Development to Support Executive Decision-Making at Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus
Main Article Content
Abstract
This quantitative survey study aimed to (1) examine the current state of and expectations for KPI data management in support of executive decision-making, (2) analyze the gaps between the current state and expectations, and (3) prioritize improvements in data management at the campus and organizational unit levels. The study population comprised 281 personnel at Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus. All eligible personnel were invited to participate voluntarily, yielding 167 valid responses. Data were collected using a questionnaire reviewed for content validity by three experts. Of the 24 items evaluated, 21 met the item–objective congruence criterion, while the remaining items were addressed based on expert feedback. Pilot testing yielded a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.89. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, gap analysis, and an adapted application of Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) across four dimensions. The results showed that the current state of KPI data management and related management practices were rated at a high level, expectations were rated at the highest level, and data management problems were rated at a moderate level. Expectations exceeded the current state across all four dimensions, with data management process efficiency exhibiting the largest gap (0.789). At the campus level, data access and use was the only dimension classified in the “Concentrate Here” quadrant, whereas development priorities varied across organizational units. These priorities represent relative comparisons based on respondents’ perceptions within the campus studied. The findings suggest that a common campus-wide development direction should be established while allowing individual units to prioritize improvements according to their specific contexts.
