The Influence of Artificial Intelligence Literacy on Employee Adaptability and Job Performance in the Digital Era

Abstract
This research aimed to study the influence of artificial intelligence literacy on employee adaptability and job performance in the digital age. The sample consisted of 400 employees from private-sector businesses in Thailand, selected through a multi-stage sampling procedure. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The statistical methods used for data analysis included descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling (SEM).
The research findings showed that the sample group had high levels of artificial intelligence literacy (AI literacy), adaptability, and job performance. Hypothesis testing using SEM revealed that AI literacy had a statistically significant positive direct influence on employees’ adaptability (β = 0.54, p < 0.001) and job performance (β = 0.35, p < 0.001). Furthermore, employees’ adaptability also positively influenced job performance (β = 0.42, p < 0.001), and the analysis confirmed that it partially mediated the relationship between AI literacy and job performance (β = 0.227, p < 0.001).
The findings from this study support the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) theory, indicating that AI literacy is a crucial personal resource that enables employees to adapt to technological challenges and improve job performance. Organizations should therefore prioritize developing comprehensive AI literacy training programs covering application, assessment, and ethics, alongside fostering a corporate culture that promotes resilience and adaptability.
