Abstract

This article aims to 1) analyze the behavior of senior citizens in selecting wellness accommodations and 2) develop guidelines for managing senior wellness accommodations. It is a mixed-methods research study. The quantitative research involved collecting a questionnaire from 400 elderly adults who traveled to Phetchaburi province for an overnight stay, while the qualitative research consisted of interviews with 15 wellness accommodation operators. The study revealed that senior citizens visiting Phetchaburi Province typically traveled alone or with family, using private vehicles and arriving on weekdays. They stayed for one to three days, primarily learning about the area through social media like Facebook and Instagram. Accommodations such as resorts, homestays, and guesthouses were often booked through sales agents, with payment made via cash, debit, or credit cards. The most popular wellness activity was Buddhist meditation, and many participants intended to return and recommend wellness activities to others. Guidelines for Managing Senior Wellness Accommodations Using the 7S McKinsey Model are proposed: 1. Structure: Maintain a straightforward and adaptable management structure; 2. System: Provide a handbook detailing tasks and responsibilities; 3. Skill: Implement foundational training courses for service delivery; 4. Style: Focus on effective hiring and evaluation processes for staff; 5. Staff: Support staff development and skill enhancement; 6. Strategy: Prioritize effective marketing strategies; and 7. Shared Values: Foster organizational values and a commitment to excellent service.
