Driving the Performance of Local Organization Leaders under the Principles of Good Governance: A Case Study of Bannaderm District, Suratthani Province

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the performance of local government leaders under the principles of good governance, a case study of Ban Na Derm district, Surat Thani province, 2) analyze problems and obstacles in the performance of local government leaders under the principles of good governance, and 3) find ways to drive the performance of local government organizations under the principles of good governance. This research is a mixed-method, consisting of quantitative research, collecting data using questionnaires with service users and personnel working in the area, totaling 400 people, and qualitative research, collecting data through interviews with local leaders related to the work performance. The data was collected through interviews with local leaders involved in the performance of 5 agencies in Ban Na Derm district, Surat Thani province. The data was analyzed using content analysis.


The research results found that 1) the leaders of local administrative organizations in Ban Na Derm district, Surat Thani province had high evaluation results in the areas of the rule of law, morality, and value, while the principles of transparency, responsibility, and participation were at a moderate level (equation = 3.40). 2) The problems and obstacles to the performance of local administrative organization leaders under the principles of good governance were found to be at a moderate level (equation = 2.98). 3) To find a way to drive the performance of local administrative organizations under the principles of good governance, it was found that in terms of personnel, the lack of human resources in local administrative organizations was a serious problem. In terms of support, there was a lack of technical readiness and personnel to support the people in all aspects. In terms of budget, the allocated budget was small, insufficient for the needs, and there was a shortage of materials and equipment for operations.
