The Supply Chain Management to Promote Meat Goat Farming Business Hua Sai District Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract
This research aims to 1) study the current status of goat farming and goat farming business management; 2) study the need to promote the prototype goat farming industry of goat farmers for developing into an export industry; and 3) manage the supply chain for promoting and developing the goat meat business of farmers. Purposive sampling was used to select 24 key informants. The data collection methods included 1) questionnaires using closed-ended questions with multiple choice and 2) interview forms with open-ended questions, which were used to promote the goat farming industry to develop a model to promote such businesses. The research findings showed that according to the basic social and economic conditions, the problems encountered were a lack of knowledge in proper goat farming, inadequate sanitation, and health inspection, and occasionally insufficient goat numbers to meet the market demand. Another finding showed that the farmers needed to promote and develop knowledge in goat production to achieve quality standards. This included breeder selection, feeding, and medicines for disease prevention and treatment. The results obtained from the analysis of supply chain management processes for promoting and developing the goat farming business found that upstream included accounting system planning, selection of breeder suitable for the weather, standard farm management ideal for the area, purchasing production factors, managing tools and equipment; midstream involved analyzing and managing food and nutrition appropriately for goats to grow and maintain quality, health management, watching and preventing various diseases and downstream consisted managing the environment for goat health, disposing of goat manure, keeping the area to ensure plant growth for goat farming, and planning the market to meet demand throughout the year.
