Main Article Content
Abstract
This study employed a mixed-methods research design to explore the sources and analyze determinants of public sector innovation within local administrative organizations to enhance service efficiency for the citizens of Pathum Thani Province. The quantitative research involved a sample of 400 respondents selected through multi-stage random sampling. Data was collected using questionnaires and analyzed using statistical methods, including frequency, mean, percentage, standard deviation, and regression analysis. To complement the quantitative findings, qualitative research was conducted through document analysis, in-depth interviews, and non-participant observation of 28 key informants. Content analysis was applied to the qualitative data. The findings indicate that 1) The sources of public sector innovation within local administrative organizations in Pathum Thani Province include the needs of the public, network and collaboration, site visits, universities, organizational leadership, proactive management, and government employees. 2) The factors influencing public sector innovation in local administrative organizations in Pathum Thani Province were consistently identified across both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Five factors emerged in both approaches: network and collaboration, organizational management, organizational policies, work environment, and leadership. Additionally, the qualitative research uncovered three further factors: local context and challenges, urbanization, and the integration of technology within the organization. It is recommended that local administrative organizations and government agencies carry out assessments and develop innovations that are specifically suited to the challenges and environments of their regions. Building cooperative networks with the public, business, and nonprofit sectors is essential to facilitating this process. By using this strategy, these organizations can effectively promote and assist the incorporation of innovation and technology to enhance the delivery of public services.
