Development of Training Course for Enhancing Information Technology Competency Based on Teachers' Secondary School Under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in the Supervisory District 11

Abstract

This article aimed to (1) study the needs and requirements for enhancing information technology competency in the performance of teachers; 2) develop training courses to enhance information technology competency in the performance of teachers; and 3) assess the effectiveness of training courses to enhance the competence of information technology in the performance of teachers. Statistics used in data analysis were mean, standard deviation (S.D.) and PNI. The research results were found as follows: The necessary needs to enhance the capacity of information technology in the performance of teachers' duties consisted of seven areas, namely the use of Microsoft Office programs and the use of computers. Fundamentals of Information Technology: Knowledge of the Law and Code of Ethics in the Use of Information Technology; Development of Innovative Teaching and Learning Media Using a portable computer for teaching and knowledge of the Internet and network systems, the development of training courses lasting 12 hours and containing seven learning units is appropriate at the highest level. Guidelines for measuring training evaluation and training unit media are appropriate at the highest level. Evaluation of the effectiveness of training courses for enhancing information technology competence. The satisfaction was at the highest level, and an assessment of information technology competency in performing duties by teachers found that after training in the information technology competency training course, teachers had more information technology competency in performing their duties than before training.
