Employee Preference for Flexible Work Arrangements: A Case Study of a Business Service Unit in a Multinational Company in Thailand

Abstract
The global COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2021 has prompted the presented research into what flexible work arrangements (FWA) are preferred by employees, as pandemic restrictions require them to work from home (WFH). The research studies preferred FWA patterns of respondents who all work for a business service unit in a multinational company in Thailand by applying conjoint analysis. The research examines the relation of working place, working day, and working time to study. What FWAs are preferred by the participants. Forty respondents participated in the survey. The research used Google Forms to design and distribute the questionnaires, online due to the constraints imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey data were analysed with SPSS's conjoint analysis. This research found an ‘importance values’ of attributes: working place is 77.67, working time is 12.02 and working day is 10.30 thus the participants have preference of where to work more than time and day to work. The highest ‘utility estimate values’ of working place is 0.65 for combination of ‘mixed (at office and WFH)’, working day is 0.05 at Monday-Friday and working time is 0.06 of ‘9:00am – 5:00 pm.’. This research found participants to prefer a FWA to be a combination of mixed working from home and work at office on Monday-Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
