Management Model for Environmental Development through a Participatory of Peoples around Bangpakong Power Plant, Chachoengsao Province

Abstract

       In this research investigation, the researcher examines 1) the environmental problems affecting members of the general public around the Bang Pakong Power Plant in Chachoengsao province; constructs 2) a management model for environmental development with the participation of people around the area under study; and proposes and evaluates 3) the constructed model.

      In this mixed-methods research, the sample population consisted of 354 members of the general public around the Bang Pakong Power Plant. Data were analyzed using frequency, mean, and standard deviation. The techniques of Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression analysis, and content analysis of interviews were also employed.

      Findings showed that the environmental problems affecting the members of the general public in the area under study were environmental management and the management for environmental development with public participation. A draft management model for environmental development with the participation of the people around the area under study was evaluated by experts and those in focus group discussions. The model was found to be accurate and appropriate and could be implemented in an effective manner in actual situations
