Elderly Abuse: An Interdisciplinary Review of Risk Factors, Forms, and Prevention Strategies

Abstract
This paper provides an interdisciplinary examination of elderly abuse, a critical and under-addressed issue with profound societal implications. The review explores various forms of abuse experienced by older adults, including physical, psychological, and financial exploitation. The diverse risk factors contributing to such abuse are elucidated, acknowledging individual, relationship, and societal levels. The detrimental impacts of elder abuse are discussed, emphasizing the significant physical, psychological, and social consequences. The paper concludes by presenting an array of prevention strategies, including educational initiatives, social support mechanisms, and policy recommendations. This comprehensive review aims to highlight the urgent need for increased research, awareness, and intervention strategies to address elderly abuse, contributing to the safety and well-being of our aging population.
