OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE DESIGN FOR TV SERIES IN A POST- "SKIP INTRO" ERA

This academic article aims to analyze the opening title sequence design from tv series. The scope of the study is winners of "Outstanding Main Title Design" from the Emmy Awards during the year 2017–2022. The age after the "Skip Intro" button had been introduced on many streaming services, which opened possibilities in designing the opening title sequence rather than shortening it. Four significant elements must be designed to work together, including visuals, types, audio, and time. Thus, the opening title sequence can achieve one of the two main functions. Firstly, in terms of creating emotions. Design the opening title sequence to be distinctive and fascinating to swiftly draw audiences into the series' world. Secondly, the visual is not only for making an impression but is also vital in terms of meaning. The audience can understand a storyline or be given a crucial hint about the series through specific images or symbols.
