MUSIC COMPOSITION "PHUNG KHEE" FOR SAXOPHONE ENSEMBLE

Abstract

          Phang-Khee, a creativity of music between Isan folk music and western music. The purpose was for academic creation by using an integration concept between Isan folk melody and western music technique of composition. The song included the use of Isan folk melody mixed with ideas from Isan literature named “Pha Daeng Nang Ai” to compose pieces for a saxophone ensemble. The composer had chosen some part of Pha Deng Nang Ai for the composing ideas. It was from when the Naga had changed to be a human named Phang-Khee to look for Nang Ai to a part that the father of Naga came up from the underwater city to destroy a city of Nang Ai by the angry feeling. It took Nang Ai’s city to be upside down under the water. It only had a small of marsh called Nong-Han in the current. The structure of Phang-Kee included Introduction A Transition A1 A2 Transition B C Transition D E F and Coda. This structure included the techniques of western music for composing that were Consonant Interval, Dissonant Interval, Quotation, Modulation, Ostinato, Syncopation, Counter Melody, Blues Scale, Pentatonic Scale and the Sequence.
