Abstract

          An analysis of Love of the Three Oranges Op.33 had composed by Sergei Prokofiev for solo piano recital. The researcher had studied and searched information about this piece to increase the capability of the performance including composer’s biology, technique and music approach. It helps researcher to understand the characteristic of this piece and can communicate to the audience that can make them more understanding. First, Sergei Prokofiev had composed Love of the Three Oranges for opera and he had his reference from the fairy tales by Carlo Gozzi. The story was about the sad prince met the fairy whom can make him laugh through the magic orange. Therefore, The fairy let him find the magic orange if he can find the magic orange it will turn to be an elegant princess and they will get marry. According to the study, An analysis of Love of the Three Oranges Op.33 composed by Sergei Prokofiev, has led researcher to study Rondo form. It had dissonant chord that is a signature of 20th century period. In the part of information of this piece, Researcher has studied opera “Love of the Three Oranges” for understand characteristic of the piece that has to present the strength of this piece. In the part of music approach, Researcher has met problems and found the way to approach it, such as Repeated notes. The researcher has took exercise that composed by Hanon to fix the problem. Therefore, The benefit of analysis, playing and information make researcher understand the role that has to express strong and strength of March’s characteristic and to show character of this piece more clearly.
