การสร้างสังคมไทยให้อยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสงบสุขได้นั้น คือ คนไทยทุกคนต้องปฏิบัติตนเป็นพลเมืองดีในระบอบประชาธิปไตยอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์ทรงเป็นประมุข ปฏิบัติตนตามกฎหมายหรือกฎกติกาของสังคม เคารพศักดิ์ศรีความเป็นมนุษย์ รับผิดชอบต่อตนเอง ผู้อื่น รู้จักสิทธิ เสรีภาพ หน้าที่ มีความเสียสละในเรื่องที่จำเป็นเพื่อผลประโยชน์ของส่วนรวมในสังคมและประเทศชาติ ซึ่งการสร้างความเป็นพลเมืองดีดังกล่าวจำเป็นต้องใช้การศึกษาเป็นกระบวนการสำคัญในการขัดเกลาพลเมืองไทยให้เป็นมนุษย์ที่สมบูรณ์ โดยการหล่อหลอมนักเรียนผ่านการจัดการเรียนรู้ในรายวิชาสังคมศึกษา ศาสนาและวัฒนธรรม โดยที่ครูผู้สอนจะต้องปลูกฝังให้มีทัศนคติและค่านิยมที่เหมาะสมต่อการดำรงชีวิตอยู่ร่วมกับผู้อื่นในสังคมอย่างสงบสุข เพื่อให้เด็กและเยาวชนซึ่งเป็นพละกำลังขับเคลื่อนประเทศชาติในอนาคต โดยใช้วิธีการแก้ปัญหาร่วมกัน รวมถึงการรู้จักปฏิบัติตนท่ามกลางความหลากหลายทางความคิด วัฒนธรรม สังคม เศรษฐกิจและการเมืองให้เป็นพลเมืองในโลกยุคโลกาภิวัฒน์

Abstract

Creating a Thai society to peacefully live together requires all Thai people to behave as good citizens in a democratic system with the King as Head of State. Citizens are to behave according to the law or the rules of society, and show respect for human dignity and responsibility for themselves and others, recognize their duty and rights for freedom including sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the whole society and the nation.  The cultivation of good citizenship requires education to function as an important process in cultivating Thai citizens to become perfect.  This can be achieved by nurturing students through the learning management of social studies courses through religion and culture. The teachers need to instill suitable values and attitudes for students to live with other people in peace.  This will encourage children and youth to become a driving force to solve common problems for the country in the future, including individuals’ behaviors to live among citizens with diverse ideas, culture, society, economy and politics. Then Thai citizens can become globalized citizens.
