Main Article Content
Abstract
Khaek Mon Sam Chan is one of the melodious Thai classical pieces adapted to be a solo variation for various Thai musical instruments, including the pi nai solo variation composed by Phraya Sanoduriyang (Cham Sundaravadhin), one of the great Thai composers. The pi nai solo variation by Phraya Sanoduriyang (Cham Sundaravadhin) has a group of unique and astonishing musical characteristics and techniques different to other versions; for example, kan ti niw, kan prip, kan phrom niw, kan chai lin (such as kan tot and kan pra-khong lin), kan chai lom (such as kan klap lom and kan pra-khop siang). All the pi nai performing techniques mentioned express the performer's musical abilities and aesthetic motive. Therefore, the pi nai solo in Khaek Mon Sam Chan by Phraya Sanoduriyang (Cham Sundaravadhin) has been continuously famous and inherited in the Thai classical music community.
