EVALUATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE ECOTOURISM MANAGEMENT BY THE COMMUNITY IN YANSUE SUB-DISTRICT, KANTANG DISTRICT, TRANG PROVINCE

Abstract
This research aimed to study the implementation results of ecotourism management in Yansue Sub-district, Kantang District, Trang Province. The study involved a group of 15 informants selected from a group of people who were involved in community-based tourism management and the stakeholders participated in eco-tourism management activities. This ecotourism management took 3 months. Before and after implementation, the target group was assessed by using research tools, which included an assessment form on ecotourism management by community in Yansue Sub-District, Kantang District, Trang Province. The data were analyzed using the paired samples t-test and the results from interviewing the opinions of community members and stakeholders.
The study found that after the ecotourism management experimental activities, the community members had significantly increased their positive opinions regarding the potential of tourism management in the community at the .001 level of statistical significance. The overall average increased by 0.53 while the averages for tourism management; the awareness of values and conservation of natural, environmental and cultural resources; the marketing and public relations; and the development of human resources in tourism increased by 0.49; 0.61; 0.18; and 0.86 respectively. The results of ecotourism management by the community have contributed to the development of tourism management, and supporting the community's ability to systematically accommodate tourists. The participatory process involving community members generated maximum benefits for local residents and relevant stakeholders.
