ENHANCING ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCIES THROUGH EXPERIENTIAL BOOT-CAMP IN AN OPEN UNIVERSITY

Abstract

This research objectives were to 1) develop learning plan for experiential boot-camp for the students in marketing major, 2) compare the entrepreneurial competencies before and after the experiential boot-camp, and 3) uncover the effect of entrepreneurial competencies in each aspect on entrepreneurial intention. The quasi-experimental research was employed to address the research objectives. The sample was 50 students who registered for the marketing experience subject in the second semester of year 2022. The research instruments were 1) learning plan for professional marketing experience boot-camp and 2) the assessment form for entrepreneurial competencies and entrepreneurial intentions. The statistics used for data analysis included descriptive statistics, comprising frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, along with inferential statistics, which included t-test analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.


The results revealed as follows: 1) The learning plan for professional marketing experience boot-camp was designed to promote 6 aspects of entrepreneurial competencies business model creation, including 3 main components: learning content, instructional activities, and instructional media, 2) After completing the experiential boot-camp, students’ entrepreneurial competency was higher than before lessoning with a statistical significance of 0.05, and 3) Opportunity and commitment competencies significantly influenced students' entrepreneurial intentions at the 0.05 statistical significance level.
