A STUDY OF NEEDS FOR IMPROVEMENT OF TEACHER LEADERSHIP FOR THE BACHELOR OF EDUCATIONS STUDENTS AT SRINAKHARINWIROT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) study needs for improvement of teacher leadership for the bachelor of educations students at Srinakharinwirot University, and 2) compare needs for improvement of teacher leadership categorized by faculties and types of schools, sample group comprised of 143 fifth-year students from the 5-year bachelor of education course. A set of questionnaire on essential requirements for improvement of teacher leadership was used as an instrument for data collection. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, PNImodified, and one-way ANOVA.


          The research results found that: 1) the first three needs for improvement of teacher leadership for the bachelor of educations students at Srinakharinwirot University were “facilitating improvements in instruction and student learning” (PNImodified=0.22, “accessing and using research to improve practice and student learning” (PNImodified=0.19), “improving outreach and collaboration with families and community” (PNImodified=0.19); 2) teaching trainees in different types of schools had insignificantly different needs at the 0.05 level of statistical significance, and students from different faculties had significantly different needs “accessing and using research to improve practice and student learning” at the 0.05 level of statistical significance
