A DEVELOPMENT OF CARTOON ANIMATION ON “FAR FROM HAND FOOT MOUTH DISEASE” TO ENCOURAGE THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS

Abstract
The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop cartoon animation on “Far from hand foot mouth disease” to have good quality, 2) to compared the academic achievement of students after watching cartoon animation on “Far from hand foot mouth disease” with the criteria that was defined at 80 percent, and 3) to evaluate the satisfaction of student toward cartoon animation on “Far from hand foot mouth disease”. There was two samples used in this research: Sample 1, 25 Kindergarten students in the semester 1/2018 from Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage Demonstration School selected by the simple random sampling method. Sample 2, 40 people (parents and teachers) from Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage Demonstration School selected by the purposive sampling method. The instruments of the research were: 1) cartoon animation on “Far from hand foot mouth disease”, 2) a quality evaluation form, 3) an achievement test, and 4) a satisfaction evaluation form. The statistics used for data analysis were average, standard deviation and t-test.
The results of the research were as follows: 1) Cartoon animation on “Far from hand foot mouth disease” was developed as 2D animation with a length of 4-5 minutes. The content in the cartoon animation was about hand foot mouth disease, symptoms, prevention and treatment guidelines. This animation can be used as a media to disseminate knowledge and prevention about hand foot mouth disease. The quality of this animation evaluated by experts was excellent ( =4.44, S.D.=0.43). 2) The academic achievement of students after watching cartoon animation on “Far from hand foot mouth disease” was at 88% which was higher than the specified criteria of 80% at the .05 level of the statistical significance. 3) The satisfaction of student toward cartoon animation on “Far from hand foot mouth disease” was at the highest level ( = 4.32, S.D.=0.70).
