AN ANALYSIS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD STUDENTS TEACHERS’ COMPETENCIES CONCERNING LEARNING MANAGEMENT: A CASE STUDY OF RAJABHAT UNIVERSITIES

Abstract

The purpose of this research were to 1) study the levels of competencies related to the learning management of student teachers in early childhood education at Rajabhat-affiliated universities in 3 aspects: teaching and learning management, learning environment establishment, and assessment, and 2) compare the levels of competencies related to learning management of the student teachers in early childhood education at Rajabhat universities classified by the grade point average. The sample were 385 fifth-year early childhood program student teachers of the Faculty of Education who were teaching in school-based classrooms during the academic year B.E. 2561. The tools used in this particular research included questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and F-test for one-way analysis of variance.


The main findings of this particular can be shown as follows: 1) The student teachers’ level of competencies related to learning management as a whole was at a high level ( M = 4.28, S.D. = 0.43). When each aspect was considered individually, their competencies related to learning environment establishment was at the highest level, followed by those related to assessment and evaluation in education, and instruction, respectively. 2) A comparison of student teachers’ competencies classified by the grade point average revealed that all of them achieved the same competency level.
