The aims of this study are to: 1) investigate interests in STEM career and content among 9th grade students in Bangkok Metropolitan Area, 2) investigate attitude toward STEM career and content, 3) examine the relationship between STEM career interest and attitude toward STEM, and 4) compare interest and attitude toward STEM career and content across groups of students by their demographic backgrounds and other basic characteristics. A quantitative approach was used in this study, using two surveys which are the STEM Career Interest Survey (STEM-CIS) and the STEM Semantics Survey to collect the data from 459 ninth grade students in Bangkok Metropolitan Region. Descriptive analysis, Pearson’s correlation analysis and an independent sample t-test were performed.

          Results show that: 1) the level of STEM career interest is 3.43 on average with standard deviation at .53, given that technology shows the highest rating ( gif.latex?\bar{X} = 3.59, S.D. = .64). The factor that most reflects student interest in STEM careers is “personal goal” (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 3.68, SD = .56) and the second most reflects student interest is “self-efficacy” (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 3.59, SD = .56), 2) the attitude toward STEM fields is averaged at 5.23 with standard deviation at .96, given that technology also shows the highest rating ( gif.latex?\bar{X} = 5.50, S.D. = 1.26), 3) STEM career interest has a positive relationship with attitude toward STEM, and 4) male students show greater interest in careers related to the fields of science, mathematics, and technology than their female counterparts with statistical significance at .05. When it comes to the type of school attended, students in private schools show greater interest in STEM careers than their counterparts in public schools with statistical significance at .05
