CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN FACULTY OF EDUCATION IN VALAYA ALONGKORN RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY UNDER THE ROYAL PATRONAGE

Abstract
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the critical thinking ability of students in the Faculty of Education in Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal patronage in Pathum Thani Province, and 2) to compare the critical thinking ability of students in the Faculty of Education in Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, in terms of gender, year of studying, field of studying and achievement. The research sample consisted of 306 undergraduate students from population 1,299 persons at year 1 – 4 in the second semester of the academic year 2017 by stratified random sampling. The instrument was used by the test of the students, critical thinking ability measurement 6 views, and total 30 items of students in the Faculty of Education in Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University. The reliability by Cronbach’s alpha-coefficient was 0.68. Data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation,
t-test and one-way ANOVA with Scheffe’s method.
The research findings were as follows: 1) the overall of the students, critical thinking ability in the Faculty of Education in Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, the average score was moderate about 17.12. The highest ability was interpretation, recognition of assumption and inference respectively, and 2) the result of the comparison of the students, critical thinking ability in the Faculty of Education in Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University found that there was no differences the students, in critical thinking ability in different genders but. The students with different year of studying, different field of studying and different achievement showed the differences on critical thinking ability was at .05 level of statistically significant.
