Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) develop and qualify a computer assisted instruction lesson for Thai language subject on diphthongs for grade 3 students, 2) study the learning achievement after using CAI and word card game activity comparing with the defined criteria of 75%, and 3) study the students’ retention on diphthongs after using CAI and word card game activity of grade 3 students. The sample used in this  research was 25 grade 3 students in Sungaumwittaya School, Khlong Song, Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani, whom enrolled in 1/2018 academic year selected by using simple random sampling. The research tools included 1) a computer assisted instruction lesson for Thai language subject on diphthongs for grade 3 students, 2) a word card game activity, and 3) a students’ retention on diphthongs and achievement test. Statistics for data analysis were the mean, standard deviation, percentage, t-test for one sample, and t – test dependent samples.

The findings were as follows: 1) the developed computer assisted instruction lesson has a good level of quality with a mean score of 4.31 and a standard deviation of 0.60, 2) the learning achievement after studying with CAI and word card game activity was higher than the specified criteria of 75 percent at the .05 level of the statistical significance, and 3) the immediate and the after-two-week students’ retention on diphthongs were not different at the statistical significance level of .05.
