TTHE DEVELOPMENT OF INTEGRATIVE GROUP COUNSELING MODEL BASE ON PATH ANALYSIS TO ADOLESCENT STUDENTS’S LONELINESS

Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1) to study the factors that affected adolescent students’ loneliness. 2) to develop an integrative group counseling model to students adolescent loneliness, and 3) to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrative group counseling model to adolescent students loneliness. This research consisted of 3 phase: Phase 1 study the factors that affect adolescent students’ loneliness. Population are adolescent students, age 18-25 years old studying in 14 Rajabhat Universities in the Central region composed of 186,736 adolescent students.  The sample were 612 adolescent students selected by multi-stage random sampling from population. Phase 2 Develop an integrative group counseling model.  The sample of this study was 10 adolescent students derived from high score of loneliness adolescent students. Phase 3 Study the results of the implementation of the integrative group counseling model.  The population of this study were the 4 Rajabhat University in Central Thailand of Rajaphat University.  The sample was 20 adolescent students from Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University high scores of loneliness adolescent students and the volunteered adolescent students. They were randomly assigned into two groups, classified as an experiment group and control group. Each group consisted of 10 adolescent students. The experiment group participated in integrative group counseling model while the control group did not receive any counseling. The research instruments were 1) a loneliness scale with reliability coefficient (alpha) of 0.93 its construct validity and 2) the integrative group counseling model to loneliness with the IOC range from 0.67-1.00. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation and path analysis and repeated measurement ANOVA.


The research results were as follows:


  1. The path model loneliness is in accordance with empirical data (gif.latex?\chi2 = 0.576, df = 1.00, gif.latex?\chi2 /df = 0.576, p = 0.448, GFI = 00, RMSEA = 0.000, RMR = 0.004)

  2. The integrative group counseling model to students adolescent loneliness was developed from the concepts and techniques of group counseling, Rational emotive behavior group counseling is core theory, Gestalt group counseling, Reality group counseling, Behavior group counseling, Existential group counseling, Person-centered theory, Adlerian counseling and psychotherapy, Cognitive therapy, Experiential family theory and Solution-focused brief therapy.

  3. The loneliness of the experimental group after participating in the integrative group counseling model and after the follow-up were significantly lower than that of the control group at .05 level.
