Abstract

The purpose of this research were 1) to develop model of causal factors influencing the motivation toward research work of private university lecturers in Bangkok, 2) to investigate the correlation of the constructed model with the empirical evidence, and 3) to study of causal factors influencing the motivation toward research work of private university lecturers in bangkok. The samples consisted of 400 lecturers of 16 private university by stratified random sampling. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistic, factor analysis, correlation analysis, and causal factors model analysis.

The research findings were as follows:

         1. The factors direct influencing the motivation toward research work of private university lecturers in bangkok has 2 variables: personal characteristics and environmental.

          2. The causal factors influencing the motivation toward research work of private university lecturers in bangkok was fitted with empirical data (gif.latex?\chi&space;2= 46.55, df = 32, p = 0.12, GFI = 0.97, AGFI = 0.96, RMSEA = 0.018) and variable in the model could cooperatively explanin variance of motivation toward research work at 81.
