The Government’s Participation in Implementing Policy of Prevention and Suppression on Human-Trafficking

Abstract

          This academic article was conducted based on the objectives as follows: 1) to study the situation of human trafficking, 2) to study the patterns of the government’s participation in protecting and subjugating human trafficking, and 3) to propose the guidelines for protecting and subjugating human trafficking, which the researchers scoped to study the area of Uttaradit province subject to the responsibility of Uttaradit province social development and human security office. Hereby, the area of Uttaradit province was considered as a pathway that girls, children, and labor-aged people were smuggled through the destination of taking an advantage of human trafficking, and there were some parts of the area, Nam Pat and Ban Khok districts, connecting to neighboring countries such as Lao People's Democratic Republic. Most of the city’s population earned a living mainly from agriculture and livestock, following by industry, wholesale and retail trade, service, and mining business. In terms of utilizing policy for preventing and subjugating human trafficking, it was found that Uttaradit province social development and human security office made an effort to push forward the event of the participation in preventing and subjugating human trafficking continuously and effectively. Based on the annual report 2020 of social situation of Uttaradit, it revealed that there were 3 lawsuits in scope of human trafficking in court, which had 4 victims altogether.
