INNOVATIVE LEADERSHIP OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS IN PIYAMIT CONSORTIUM UNDER THE PATHUM THANI SECONDARY EDUCATION SERVICE AREA OFFICE

Abstract

          The objectives of this To study the effect of innovative leadership on school administration and compare teachers' opinions on innovative leadership affecting school administration, classified by education level, work experience and school size and to propose the guidelines to promote the innovative leadership for school administration in Piyamit Consortium under the Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office. The population was 513 teachers from five schools of Piyamit Consortium under the Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office. The sample was 217 teachers in Piyamit Consortium under the Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office, which was  calculated using Krejcie and Morgan's table. A five-scale rating questionnaire was used as a research instrument for data collection. The instrument’s reliability value was 0.919 and a consistency index ranged from 0.67-1.00. Statistics used for data analysis was frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and One-way analysis of variance, Scheffe's method used for pairwise comparison when differences were found. An interview form was used as a tool to interview informants, comprising six experts. Data were analyzed by content analysis.
          The results of this study indicated that 1) teachers' opinions on innovative leadership affecting school administration for both overall and individual aspects were at a high level. When individual aspects were considered, an aspect with the highest mean was creativity, followed by teamwork, creation of an innovative organizational climate, risk management, and change vision, 2) the samples with different education level and work experience had indifferent opinions for both overall and individual aspects on innovative leadership affecting school administration in Piyamit Consortium under the Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office, 3) the samples working at different school size  had indifferent opinions on overall innovative leadership affecting school administration in Piyamit Consortium under the Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office. When individual aspects were considered, the samples had different opinions on change vision and risk management with a statistical significance level of .05, while they had indifferent opinions on other aspects. 3) the guidelines to promote the innovative leadership for school administration in Piyamit Consortium under the Pathum Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office include that potential changes should be considered by school administrators as information for determining the vision, giving importance to creating an innovative organizational climate, acting as a good role model, and possessing risk management skills, which will drive the school to excellence.
