The Analysis of the Art of Cinematic Storytelling of Horror Films in The Conjuring Universe.

This study was qualitative research. The objectives are 1. to study the structure and composition of narrative elements of horror films in The Conjuring Universe, and 2. to study narrative techniques for creating horrors of horror films in The Conjuring Universe which contains 7 movies: 1. The Conjuring (2013) 2. Annabelle (2014) 3. The Conjuring (2016) 4. Annabelle Creation (2017) 5. The Nun (2018) 6. Annabelle Comes Home (2019) and, 7. The curse of La Llorona (2019), using content analysis methods and related documents. The results of the research showed that 1. The narrative structure consists of the theme, plot, conflict, character, setting, dialogue, point of view, and special symbol. The most prominent are; (1) a plot based on real events, (2) religious beliefs, (3) every story told through family relationships, (4) characters conflict with themselves, other people, and nature; and (5) the unfolding of the matter using the power of family conviction and religious faith. 2. Storytelling techniques focus on pulling the audience to feel fear, pressure, until the point of relaxation. In addition, all movies are connected. The audience is eager to follow and wait to watch in the next story, resulting in the success of movies in the Conjuring Universe.
