Keywords:
Library services, Open university library, Needs assessmentAbstract
The research aims to assess and compare the desirable conditions of library services from the open university students by education levels, group of subjects, methods of study, and residential provinces, including needs assessment of the library services. The sampling was 400 students from two open universities. Data collection was conducted via questionnaire. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The hypothesis was tested by t-test and F-test. The needs assessment was analyzed with Modified Priority Needs (PNImodified). The research results revealed that the students have a high level of opinion on the condition that library services should be in overall and each aspect. When compared by variables, it was found that there is a statistically significant difference in library services at the .05 level among the students who were different in education levels, group of subjects, and methods of study exempted the residential provinces. As for the needs assessment of library services in four aspects were prioritized from the most to least as follows; facilities (PNImodified = 0.39), online library service category (PNImodified = 0.35), Information resources (PNImodifie = 0.34), and physical library service category (PNImodified = 0.33), respectively.
