Abstract

This research study has the following objectives: 1) To study the style of interior decoration products of tropical style hotels. 2) To design pottery products that are decorated in tropical style hotels. This was inspired by rainforest Epiphytic plants. 3) To study and test the ratio of clay texture, forming, decorating techniques, glazing and firing to be suitable for the products. This research is a study that collects data from sectors, documents, books, texts, related research, surveying area observe and interview the knowledgeable person. Which are an architectural information, interior design, pottery and biology. Based on the study of tropical hotel decoration, case studies 3 hotels and study of inspiration data from rainforest Epiphytic plants.

The research found that Tropical style hotel that occurs in the natural forest area has designed and decorated by using decorative materials that convey the naturalness such as wood, clay, etc. From studying information about rainforest Epiphytic plants to be inspired in the design, therefore choosing ferns and mushrooms from the study. The researcher used the results of the research to lab the pottery process in finding clay ratio, decorating techniques, glazing and firing. To be suitable for the design of pottery for the interior of the tropical style hotel in the reception hall or the hotel lobby. From the results obtained to lead the draft assessment process by 3 experts from hotel business operators and decoration, Interior design expert and Pottery expert for evaluate the draft for the suitability of production and experimentation. Pottery products of research include lamps, vases, trays and wall art.
