Upcycling: Value Creation with Design for Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
The amount of medical waste particularly from the single-us medical devices has tremendously increased. Indeed, such refuse poses some such favorable properties as strength, thickness, durability, and waterproof attributes. Despite these qualities, rarely are they effectively exploited. Therefore, the medical waste recycling project is a pilot study intended to research hospital refuse and develop as well as create it into new products through the collaboration among designers, nurses and medical staff. The project could design and create as many as 20 products. There are patented and could be used for commercial purposes. In particular, this study increased the hospital staff and related parties] satisfaction as well as confidence in the products, thus indication that hospitals hold creative potential of fostering medical waste-based innovation for patient and caretaker treatment.
