THE DEVELOPMENT OF ECOTOURISM TOURISM PROGRAM AND ACTIVITIES BY COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AT KHAO DIN SUBDISTRICT BANG PAKONG DISTRICT, CHACHOENGSAO PROVINCE

Abstract

Introduction: Khao Din subdistrict in Bang Pakong district currently has very few tourist attractions and activities. However, it is a community with great potential, boasting diverse natural resources and agricultural products. Therefore, a study was conducted, focusing on ecotourism that aligns with the local community's context. Objectives: 1. to study and survey issues related to ecotourism in Khao Din Subdistrict, ; 2. to evaluate the area's ecotourism potential; and 3. to propose suitable ecotourism programs and activity packages. Methods: This study uses qualitative research methods. The sample included 20 key informants. Data collection involved field notes, evaluation forms designed by the Tourism Division of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and structured interviews. Data quality was ensured through triangulation and content analysis. Results: Khao Din Subdistrict indicated that the community has the potential for ecotourism development. The evaluation scores showed a total of 66.38 percent, exceeding the 60 percent target set by the Tourism Division . Conclusion: The most suitable ecotourism program patterns identified included four one-day trip programs: 1. Studying and learning about the Na Kha Wang rice farming program; 2. Visiting and studying mangrove and nipa palm forests; 3. Visiting Khao Din Temple and other key tourist attractions; and 4. Learning to cook using local ingredients. The most prominent activities included visiting mangrove and nipa palm forests, learning the Na Kha Wang rice farming techniques, and observing sea crab feeding and cooking with local ingredients in Khao Din community.
