LEADERSHIP OF ADMINISTRATORS AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF BANKS IN THAILAND : CASE STUDY OF A STATE SPECIALIZED FINANCIAL BANK AND A PRIVATE SECTOR COMMERCIAL BANK

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to examine the leadership styles that affects the effectiveness of banks in Thailand and 2) to compare the differences in leadership between a state specialized financial bank and a commercial bank of the private sector. And to analyze the reasons for such importance using qualitative research methods based on case studies, document studies, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and select specific key informants, middle-class executives and junior executives. A total of 30 persons from 2 banks in Thailand are as follows: State Specialized Banks and Private Commercial Banks. These two case studies will compare and justify the leadership styles which represent the public sector and private sectors that enable the banks to be effectiveness. Then use the data obtained for content analysis, data attenuation, data organization, and wording tables lead to the interpretation and evaluation in order to form the conclusions by comparing the data between case studies.


The results showed that


both case studies were effectiveness. This study has discovered 5 types of leadership: (1) Sharing leadership (2) Servant leadership (3) Transactional leadership (4) Transformational leadership and (5) Innovation leadership. However, this study also found that the executives have apparently adopted Transformational leadership and Innovative leadership styles in their management because they are appropriate for today's era.
