Parental Expectations of Education Management at Private Kindergartens in Mueang Samut Prakan District, Samut Prakan Province

Abstract

In this thesis, the researcher studies and compares parental expectations of education management at private kindergartens in Mueang Samut Prakan district, Samut Prakan province as classified by the demographical characteristics of gender, relationships with students, highest educational level, average familial income, and parents’ occupations.

The research population consisted of 2,144 parents of students enrolled at private kindergartens in Mueang Samut Prakan district, Samut Prakan province. Using simple random method by stratified sampling the sample population consisted of 326 parents. The research instrument was a five-rating scale questionnaire with 50 items concerning parental expectations of education management couched at the reliability level of 0.97. The data were analyzed through applications of descriptive statistics. Differences between means (Ms) were analyzed through applications of a t test technique and the F-test technique. Multiple comparisons were drawn through successive applications of Scheffé’s multiple comparison method.

Findings are as follows:

1. The parental expectations of education management were overall and for all aspects found to be expressed at a high level.


2. The parents who differed in the demographical characteristics of gender, relationships with students, average familial income, and parents’ occupation failed to exhibit concomitant differences in their expectations of education management at the private kindergartens. The parents whose educational level was higher than that of a bachelor’s degree evinced parallel expectations at a higher level than those whose educational level was over than that of a bachelor’s degree overall and in the aspects of personnel and services.
