A Study of Problem-Solving Ability of Grade 9 Students Using Problem-Based Learning and The Learning Together Technique (LT) in The Civics, Culture and Social Life Course

Abstract

The objectives of the present research study were 1) to study the Problem-solving ability of grade 9 Students Using Problem-Based Learning and The Learning Together Technique in The Civics, Culture and Social Life Course in which it was expected that 70 % of the students group had the Problem-Solving Ability at 70 % or better 2) to study team work process of grade 9 Students Using Problem-Based Learning and The Learning Together Technique in The Civics, Culture and Social Life Course in which it was expected that 70 % of team work process at 70 % or better 3) to study the students’ Learning achievement of grade 9 Students Using Problem-Based Learning and The Learning Together Technique in The Civics, Culture and Social Life Course in which it was expected that 70 % of the student group made a mean achievement score of 70 % or better


The target group consisted of 40 grade 3/2 students in the khonsanwittayakhom school, khonsan, chaiyaphum during the second semester of the 2016 academic year by Purposive Sampling. The study followed the one-shot case study research procedure and research instruments included 1) 6 instructional plans with 12 hours. 2) a problem-solving ability test with 6 situations 24 items 3) the team work process evaluation 4) a learning achievement test with 4 multiple choices, 30 items. The collected data were analyzed by means of finding arithmetic mean, percentage and standard deviation


The findings :
1) The thirty-three students pass the exam in the section of the problem-solving ability that means 82.50 % of the whole group .The average is 36.85 which is 77.24% of the amount score that higher than the standard score.
2) The thirty-seven students pass the exam in the section of team work process that means 92.50% of the whole group. The average is 12.07 which is 80.47% of the amount score that higher than the standard score.
3) The learning achievement shows that the thirty-one students pass the exam that mean 77.50% of the whole group. The average is 22.48 which is 74.92% of the amount score that higher than the standard score.
