Methods of weaving Krajood mats in traditional pattern. Case Study: Group of Krajood Products in Kuanpom community, House Group 1, Kreang Subdistrict, Cha-uat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: (1) Methods of weaving Krajood mats in traditional pattern. (2) Problems of weaving Krajood mats in traditional pattern.
(3) Solution of weaving Krajood mats in traditional pattern. For qualitative research, the target groups were 16 key from the members of group that wicker traditional pattern were 10 key and promoter of group of krajood products in kuanpom community were 6 key, Including the president of the sub-district administration organization, community developer, agricultural academician, Headman of house group, Folk philosopher and businessman of community. The data were collected by using interviews, participant observation and non- participant observation. The data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis. The findings revealed as follows: (1) Methods of weaving Krajood mats in traditional pattern; The traditional production process, from cutting the Krajood, taking the Krajood to sun and covering the Krajood to be flat. Traditional weaving includes pattern 1 to 1, pattern 2 to 2 and pattern 3 to 3. Finishing and storage by neatly trim, keep in dry and not damp. (2) Problems of weaving Krajood mats in traditional pattern; fragile fiber problems, easily broken, No toughness and not durable. Mold problems, defects or stains. Raw material problems due to swamp fires in damage to Krajood. Production problems, because people are not popular, resulting in not worth the return. (3) Solution of weaving Krajood mats in traditional pattern; Solutions for fiber problems by using Krajood to muddy mud to increase toughness, Solution of mildew problems by keeping in a dry, not wet and sun-dried area, Solution of raw material problems by focusing on peat fire prevention systems and taking care of swampy areas together, Solution of raw material problems focusing on production under wisdom and product promotion.
