Crime Prevention Measures in Residential Areas within the Grand Market Area, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

Abstract
This article aimed to 1) study the crime situation in residential areas within the Grand Market area, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, and 2) study crime prevention measures within residential areas within the Grand Market area, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The sample group consisted of 400 residents of the Grand Market area, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. A questionnaire was used to analyze means and standard deviations, whereas an interview form was used to analyze content. Ten informants included police officers, business owners, residents, and community leaders in the area.
The research findings revealed that: 1) Crime problems in residential areas within the Grand Market area include crimes against life, drug offenses, property offenses, and sexual offenses, respectively, 2) The crime situation in residential areas within the Grand Market area, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, remains at high level of crime problem due to environmental factors, law enforcement, social, and personal/physical aspects, respectively, 3) Crime prevention measures to be applied to residential areas in the Grand Market area, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, are as follows: (1) Measures to prevent crimes caused by personal/physical factors, (2) Measures to prevent crimes caused by environmental factors, (3) Measures to prevent crimes caused by social factors, and (4) Measures to prevent crimes caused by factors resulting from law enforcement, namely, punishments that are not appropriate for the offense because it will make people in society who intend to commit crimes not fear the punishment.
