The Method of Propagating the Dhamma Regarding Dhutangavatana of Phra Mahakassapa Thera for Application in Thai Monastic Society

Abstract

This article aimed to study the Dhudangavat that appears in the Buddhist scriptures and to study the practice of Dhudangavat by Phra Maha Kassapa Thera. and to propose guidelines for propagating the Dhamma of Dhutangavat of Phra Maha Kassapa Thera for application in Thai monastic society. The results of the study found that the history of the Dhutanga in Buddhism found that the Dhutanga is a virtue that eliminates defilements. The quality of the person who eliminates defilements refers to the intention, the intention to refine the defilements, the intention, the intention that allows one to abandon defilements. From the study, the researcher found that there are actually only 8 rules of the Dhutanga that appear in the Tripitaka at present. There are 13 rules that were added later by his disciples or the Buddha allowed them to. It was practiced, but it was not combined with the 8 Dhudangavatana practices. Until time had passed after the Lord Buddha passed away, his disciples then adopted a practice that was similar in nature to the Dhudanga practice. That already existed were formulated and combined with the other 5 Dhutangas, thus becoming the 13 Dhutangas. The practice of holding the Dhutanga of Phra Maha Kassapa Thera found that Phra Maha Kassapa Thera was a disciple who played an important role in Promoting Buddhism in the form of meditation He was committed to strictly observing the 3 Dhutanga practices, namely the requiem robe as an observance. Consider going for alms as a practice. and considered living in the forest as a practice based on the analysis of the practice of holding a pilgrimage by Phra Mahakassapa Thera Found that it can be applied to monastic society. Carrying the required cloth is a practice. It can be applied to use objects in an appreciative way. Observing the alms round as a practice can be used as a guideline and applied by being attentive to the monks' routines. We should not abandon the task of collecting alms because collecting alms is the propagation of Buddhism. Living in the forest is a practice. Living in the forest promotes one's refinement and apathy in the tranquility of the forest. Suitable for seclusion, it can be considered that the forest residence of Phra Mahakassapa Thera is another form of propagating Buddhism.
