An analysis of Kamma in Theravada Buddhist Scripture in Kamlaimas of Television Drama

Abstract
This article aimed to study the principles appearing in the Tripitaka of Buddhist scriptures to examine the principles presented in the television drama “Kamlaimas” and to analyze the karma in the Tripitaka of Buddhist scriptures presented in the television drama “Kamlaimas” It was qualitative research. Subsequently, it is analyzed, compiled, and presented in a narrative form. The research findings;- 1) Kamma in the Tripitaka of Buddhist scriptures refers to actions, deeds, or behaviors that arise from one's own actions resulting from greed, anger, and delusion.
2) The principles of Kamma and character behavior presented in the television Drama “Kamlaimas” depict the reality of worldly attitudes and moral principles interwoven within the drama. It demonstrates that the actions and intentions of the characters determine what is right and wrong, good, and bad, as human nature encompasses both good and evil. 3) The analysis of Kamma in the Buddhist Tripitaka scriptures, as depicted in the television drama “Kamlaimas” reflects that humans inherently possess goodness or a natural inclination towards being good, or there are certain things inherent in humans since birth. However, they may become obscured due to clinging, leading to attachment and bondage, thus preventing the preservation of their original nature. At the same time, character reflections in the drama show that each character has unique personality traits and different life backgrounds. In Buddhism, there are teachings on creating good karma and avoiding bad karma, which result in different outcomes in this life and beyond. Karma in Buddhism is the result of individual actions, even though they may vary to some extent in the past that has passed. However, even a single day in Buddhism accounts for the consequences of those actions. Therefore, the law of karma in Buddhism does not just refer to past laws, known as past actions, but also includes the current existence.
